Man Shoots Into Crowd with a Rifle, Woman Engages with Her Handgun
Decisive action by one armed woman stops a man firing into a crowd at a party undoubtably saving many lives.
The Associated Press reported that the heroic woman “fatally shot a man who began firing an AR-15-style rifle into a crowd of people that had gathered for a party,” citing local authorities.
It sounds like a man was angry about being admonished by a group for speeding through an apartment complex and decided to come back and kill people. Who does that?
The incident occurred Wednesday when Dennis Butler, 37, was angered by a group of people hosting a graduation party who told him to slow down through an apartment complex in Charleston. He returned 30 minutes later, parked his vehicle, jumped in the backseat, and discharged his weapon toward the group of 30-40 people.
“Dennis Butler, 37, was killed Wednesday night after he pulled out the rifle and began shooting at dozens of people attending the birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in the city of Charleston,” the police statement said.
“The woman, who was attending the party, drew a pistol and fired, killing Butler, the statement said,” the AP reported. “No one at the party was injured.”
“Instead of running from the threat, she engaged with the threat and saved several lives last night,” Chief of Detectives Tony Hazelett said on Thursday.
Hazelett added that no charges would be filed against the woman.
This kind of senseless violence is another indication of the social and cultural fracturing we are currently experiencing in the U.S.
Get mentally prepared for more violence this summer.
