Knife Attack Survivor: Stabs Felt Like Punches
Updated: Jun 6
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has filed a detainer request against a 21-year-old man who illegally came into the U.S. and has identified him as “an alleged serial killer.”
A woman who survived a knife attack by the killer is speaking out about her experience. Two other people in Southern California died after being stabbed repeatedly by the attacker.
“I’m grateful that I’m alive and that I wasn’t killed," the victim told KCRA from her hospital bed while recovering from her wounds at UC Davis Medical Center. "I was so scared when he started punching me. I thought that’s what he was doing, was punching me. I didn’t realize he was stabbing me until afterwards. Everything just went kind of black from there.”
“I’m glad that they got him," she said. "I was praying for that, that nobody else will have to go through this. Me and the other two victims never did anything to him. There was no reason for him to come after people that he didn’t even know.”

The quote above is one of the two points we're trying to emphasize:
Many people recount they didn't realize they were being stabbed during a knife attack. They felt the attacker was "punching" them.
Lethal attacks can come out of the blue with no warning or apparent reason.
It's not unreasonable to assume the worst when you are suddenly ambushed and attacked. We must be prepared to defend ourselves from a lethal attack in this case.
The criminal picks:
The time of the attack
The place of the attack
The weapons used in the attack
When you are the most vulnerable
When the opportunity is best for his success
We ARE going to be surprised. It's the criminal's best tactic.
However, we can control some elements:
Our level of fitness
Our tools for defensive use
We cover how to defend ourselves from weapons in our third module, Defense Against Weapons.
